Follow these easy steps to enrol your children:
Step 1
Check your eligibility
Highgate Primary School is a local intake school. Follow the links below to check your residential address on the relevant interactive map:
If your address falls outside the catchment area, you can find your local school using the Schools Online directory.
Read more here about how enrolment applications from students living outside our local intake area are prioritised.
Step 2
Find your child’s year level
Schools in WA use date of birth to determine a child’s year level. Use the Department of Education’s School Age Calculator to find which year level your child will enter. Highgate Primary School covers Kindergarten to Year 6. If your child is entering Year 7 or above, you will need to enrol them at your local high school.
Step 3
Download and complete the Application For Enrolment form. These forms are also available from our office.
Step 4
Gather the supporting documents required:
Proof of address
You must provide current copies of:
- Rate notice or rental agreement
AND
- Utility bill (e.g. gas or electricity) or utility connection notice
Identification
You must provide a copy of the child’s:
- Birth certificate
If the child or parents:
- Were born outside of Australia or
- Are temporary residents of Australia
Please also provide:
- Australian Citizenship documents
OR
- Passport & visa documents:
- Child’s passport
- Child’s Visa Grant Notice
- Parent passport/s
- Parent Visa Grant Notice/s
For Student Visa Holders
- Public School Placement Form (PSPF) with Section A completed.
This form is provided by your university or available from TAFE International Western Australia (TIWA)
Immunisation & Medical
- Your child’s current Australian Immunisation History Statement.
This is a government requirement for all Kindergarten enrolments. - If your child has a medical condition, diagnosed learning difficulty, or disability, please provide any relevant documents (e.g. Medical Action Plan or diagnosis report).
Academic Records (Year 1 - Year 6 only)
- Your child's most recent school report (if available)
Step 5
Email your completed application and your supporting documents to highgate.ps.enrolments@education.wa.edu.au
Tips to Streamline the Application Process
- Submit current documents
- Immunisation documents must be issued less than 2 months ago to be considered current.
- Rate notices and utility bills should be from the most recent billing cycle.
- Rental agreements should not be expired.
- Make sure we can open your files
We can only accept the following file types: .pdf, .jpeg, & .png
We are unable to accept .zip folders or password-protected files. - Complete forms digitally
Type and save your information directly into our digital forms using the instructions below.
Please use upper and lower case letters, not all caps (eg. “Susan Smith”, not “SUSAN SMITH”).
Step 6
Your application will be assessed, and you will be advised in writing of the outcome.

- While you are waiting for us to contact you, we highly recommend that you check out the Parent Info section on our website. It contains all school information, including booklists, personal items, and uniform information.
If the school makes an offer of enrolment, you will be invited to attend the school with your child for an interview, tour and to complete the enrolment.
If the application is declined, you will be provided with a written reason and information on next steps depending on your situation.
We will consider all applications for enrolment, consistent with the School Education Regulations and Enrolment in Public Schools policies, prioritising the local intake area, and considering applications outside of the local intake area where the school has sufficient accommodation to meet all local intake placements.
