Music & Drama

Music is an integral element of Highgate Primary School with all students from Year 1 to Year 6 attending weekly lessons ran by a specialist teacher. Lessons are Kodaly based and include singing, playing instruments, composition and much more. 

We have a junior and senior rock band and a junior and senior choir. Selected Year 5 & 6 students are also given the opportunity to participate in the School of Instrumental Music programs of classical guitar and brass. Further information can be found on the SIM website.

In 2017, we introduced drama as a subject. This gives students a more well-rounded arts education. In drama classes, we will look at character development, improvisation/theatre sports, verbal and non-verbal communication skills and work on our biennial musical.
